REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS |
| 1. The Sire or dam Must be a registered PUREBRED Haflinger. |
| 2. The owner of the purebred stallion must sign the service certificate or, |
| 3. The owner of the purebred mare must sign the breeders certificate. |
| 4. In case of a lease agreement it is required that the registered owner, as well as the leasee sign the service or breeders certificate. |
| 5. If the purebred animal is being sold on time, it is required that a statement from the registered owner be submitted advising the signature of the prospective new owner is acceptable on the service or breeders certificate, which ever applies. |
| 6. The owner of the dam at the time of foaling is the only person eligible to register the foal. The owner of the dam at the time of service and the owner of the dam at the time of foaling must sign the registration application. |
| 7. If the foal is the property of a party other than the owner of the dam at time of foaling, a statement signed by the owner of dam at time of foaling is required authorizing the registry to transfer ownership of the foal and should accompany the registration application. The transfer fee is waived in this case. |
| 8. Foals are eligible for registry until the end of their yearling year, Dec 31 of the year after foaling. |
| 9. It is required that a completed application be sent to the Haflinger Half-Blood Registry, along with the appropriate registration fee when applying for registration. |
| 10. Include three (3) photographs of animal, both sides and face when applying. |

11. Please use correct names, numbers, and dates. They are essential. The accuracy of information submitted on the registration application is the most important aspect of the registration process. |

TRANSFERS AND CHANGES |
| 1. In order to keep our records up-to-date and accurate, we need your assistance. Before transferring ownership, it is necessary that the certificate be properly endorsed by the registered owner, or owners. |
| 2. When a stallion is gelded, please send the registration certificate to us along with a statement giving the date of gelding. Our records will be changed and a corrected certificate showing "gelding" will be sent. |
| 3. When the animal is deceased, send the registration certificate along with a statement giving date of death. We will return certificate upon request only. |

4. Registered name changes are NOT permitted. |

DESCRIPTION OF COLOR AND MARKS |
|
Terms describing color: |
| Bay-- varies in color , can be distinguished from chestnut by the fact that the bay has a black mane and tail, and almost invariably black on the limbs. |
| Brown -- this is sometimes difficult to tell from black and dark bay, but can be decided by taking careful notice of the fine hair on the muzzle. |
| Black -- If any doubt arises in determining dark brown and black , the fine hair on the muzzle will show which is correct. |
| Chestnut-- This varies from a dark liver color to a light washy yellow, between which come the brilliant red and gold and copper shade. |
| Dun-- This varies from mouse color to golden dun, and is generally is accompanied by black points and strips. |
| Grey -- This is a mixture of white hairs and black sometimes scarcely distinguishable from black at birth but getting lighter with age. |

Roans -- There are two classes of these: 1) red and strawberry -- produced by the intermingling of red, white and yellow hairs. 2) blue -- produced by the intermingling of black , white and yellow hairs. |
|
Palomino -- Gold color, usually accompanied by white main and tail. |

MARKS ON HEAD |
| Star-- A white mark, in the center of the forehead. |
| Stripe-- A narrow white stripe down the center of the face. |
| Snip-- A white mark between the nostrils. |
| Blaze-- A broad splash of white down the face. |
| Bald-Faced -- When the blaze extends to or beyond the eyes. |

Upperlip & Lowerlip-- The names used to denote white skin at the edges of the lips. * Also designate any glass eyes. |

MARKS ON THE BODY |
| Dorsal stripe-- The dark line along the back or down the shoulders. |
|
Zebra-marks-- The dark horizontal marks at the back of the arm above the knee and across the lower part of the thigh. Whitespots on the body should be noted. Dapple -variegated round spots. * Brands must be noted. |

MARKS ON THE LEGS |
|
White hoofs, coronets, pasterns, and fetlocks all noted without any white are said to be "solid colored". |

NOTE: Any falsification of documents of any kind will result in PERMANENT SUSPENSION from any future registry requests and permanent withdrawal of registry certificate in question.
